Course description

The training is highly practical and takes place in a specialised pool. The programme covers: a review of safe water entry techniques, forming groups in the water (maintaining warmth and visibility), life raft handling (righting, boarding) and exercises in safe transfer (Boat Transfer) using a ladder, including safety procedures.

Duration

The course lasts 4,5 hours.

Prerequisites

Possession of a valid WINDA ID number,
At least 18 years of age,
A valid (not expired) GWO Sea Survival certificate (basic or previous refresher),
No medical conditions preventing strenuous physical activity in the water,
Ability to swim.

Outcomes upon completion

The participant confirms their ability to survive at sea whilst awaiting rescue, to use rescue equipment effectively, and to move safely between a vessel and an offshore structure.

Certificate validity

The certificate is valid for 24 months (2 years). To maintain certification, a refresher course must be completed within the last 2 months prior to the expiry date of the current certificate.

Information regarding the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify your qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
