Course objective

To prepare participants for safe movement between different vessels and offshore installations (e.g. wind towers or platforms). The course teaches how to minimise the risk of falling into the water, being crushed by the hull or sustaining injuries when using ladders and transfer systems.

Course description

The training covers theory regarding vessel types (CTV, SOV), crew communication procedures and dynamic sea conditions. The practical part focuses on ladder climbing techniques (the so-called ‘step over’), the correct use of life jackets, and the ‘man overboard’ (MOB) procedure.

Duration

The course lasts 4 hours.

Prerequisites

At least 18 years of age,
Valid medical examinations for work at sea (e.g. maritime medical certificates),
No medical contraindications to physical exertion or working at height.

Outcomes upon completion

The participant is able to safely board and disembark from a transfer vessel in various weather conditions, is familiar with emergency procedures, and can correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE) designed for maritime transfers.

Certificate validity

The certificate is valid for 24 months (2 years)
