To teach participants the basic electrical skills necessary to work safely in a wind turbine environment. The course aims to prepare technicians to carry out simple electrical tasks, such as measurements and diagnostics of components, under the supervision of qualified personnel.

Course description

The training combines electrical engineering theory with practical workshop sessions. The programme covers direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC), the principles of operation of components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, transformers, motors) and reading professional wind turbine electrical diagrams. A key element is practical training in the safe use of measuring devices to verify voltage and circuit continuity

Duration

The course lasts 10,5 hours.

Prerequisites

Possession of a valid WINDA ID number,
At least 18 years of age,
Basic mathematical knowledge,
No electrical engineering background is required, although completion of the BEEK (Basic Electrical Engineering Knowledge) course may facilitate learning.

Outcomes upon completion

The participant is able to identify symbols on diagrams, understands the principles of operation of control and power circuits in a turbine, can safely carry out electrical measurements, and understands the risks associated with electric arcs and electric shock.

Certificate validity

The certificate does not expire (it is valid indefinitely). GWO recognises that once acquired, technical fundamentals remain valid unless standards change drastically.

Information about the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify the holder’s qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
