Course objective

The aim of the course is to refresh and confirm theoretical and practical skills in conducting complex rescue operations on wind turbines. The training aims to review the most effective methods of evacuation from hard-to-reach locations (nacelle, tower, hub, blades) using standard rescue equipment.

Course description

The training focuses on intensive practical exercises and simulations, combining two areas:

ART-N-R (Nacelle, Tower, Basement Refresher): A refresher on rescue techniques for the tower, nacelle and basement/foundations of the turbine.
ART-H-R (Hub, Spinner, Inside Blade Refresher): A refresher on procedures for extracting casualties from the hub and the interior of the rotor blades. Instructors emphasise updating knowledge of equipment, improving reaction times and teamwork within the rescue team.

Duration

The course lasts 14,5 hours.

Prerequisites

Possession of a valid WINDA ID numer,
At least 18 years of age,
Valid (not expired) certificates:
- GWO ART-H and GWO ART-N (or their previous refresher courses),
- GWO BST Working at Heights,
- GWO BST First Aid,
- GWO BST Manual Handling.

Good physical fitness.

Outcomes upon completion

The participant confirms their ability to independently install rescue systems within confined spaces of a wind turbine. They demonstrate the skill to effectively apply casualty lowering and hauling techniques in both vertical and horizontal scenarios. Furthermore, they possess fully updated knowledge regarding the latest GWO safety standards for advanced rescue.

Certificate validity

The certificate is valid for 24 months (2 years). To maintain certification, a refresher course must be completed within the last 2 months prior to the expiry date of the current certificate.

Information regarding the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify your qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
