The training is a fusion of mechanical and electrical modules, covering:
- Integrated assembly process: From component receipt, through pre-assembly, to the final installation of the tower sections, nacelle and blades,
- Mechanical work: Operating bolt tightening (torquing/tensioning) systems and preparing structural connections,
- Electrical work: Routing cable harnesses, making connections in control cabinets and installing earthing systems,
- Operational safety: Coordination of crane operations and risk management during simultaneous mechanical and electrical assembly.
The participant is able to independently, under supervision, perform most installation tasks within a wind turbine. They demonstrate the ability to efficiently read and interpret complex technical documentation, both mechanical and electrical. Furthermore, they correctly and safely operate a full range of specialized installation tools, including hydraulic systems and power tools.
The certificate does not expire (it is valid indefinitely). GWO recognises that once acquired, technical fundamentals remain valid unless standards change drastically.
Information regarding completion of the training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify the holder’s qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
