Course objective

During the course, participants learn about ignition sources, the properties of combustible materials, the causes of shipboard fires, and fire detection methods. Practical exercises enable them to acquire skills in firefighting and rescue operations on board vessels, as well as knowledge regarding the design, use, and location of shipboard firefighting equipment and fixed fire-extinguishing systems. They also learn fire-fighting techniques, including those at the command level.

Course description

The training program also includes practical exercises at a fire training ground, covering the use of fire extinguishers; the deployment, retrieval, and coupling of fire hoses and nozzles; the application of water streams; and navigating smoke-filled rooms while wearing respiratory protection equipment. The skills acquired prove useful during prolonged firefighting operations.

Basic safety training in personal safety and social responsibilities

Course objective:

International laws, the STCW Convention, SOLAS, MARPOL and relevant codes are discussed during the training; the types of hazards on ships and preventing hazardous situations, the knowledge of ship signals and emergency plans; interdependencies between crew members on a ship, social responsibility, hazards, i.e., alcohol, drugs.

Course objective:
