Course description

Participants will learn the principles of operation, maintenance, and emergency response while working on the dock.

Who is the training for?

The Dock Machinery Operator training is intended for:

  • Persons employed in or planning to work as a dock machinery operator, as well as port and shipyard employees who wish to expand their competencies in operating floating equipment.

Scope of training and course completion

Scope of the training:

  • Regulations and directives
  • Structure of the dock, types, onboard dock equipment and their purpose
  • Basic knowledge of hydrostatics
  • Docking and undocking of vessels, docking techniques
  • Electrical equipment
  • Ballast, drainage and ventilation systems, and dock hydraulics
  • Duties of the dock operator (machinist)
  • Environmental protection
  • Rescue operations
  • Inspections and repairs
  • Compliance with occupational health, safety, and fire protection regulations

The training is concluded with a pass in:

  • Lectures – test
  • Practical exercises – pass in the form of a skills demonstration

Additional information

After successfully passing the internal examination, the participant receives an unlimited-validity certificate of completion, issued on the basis of §18(2) of the Regulation of the Minister of National Education, authorising the holder to perform the duties of a floating dock operator.

Occupational health

In cooperation with an external clinic, we help arrange the required occupational health examinations. The scope may include, among others, the Chester Step Test, an exercise stress test, and the option to obtain an OEUK/OGUK certificate.

    Extinguishing a fire of a burning car

    Course objective:
    The direct aim of the training is to prepare trainees for conducting rescue-extinguishing activities in a safe manner during a fire of vehicles. An indirect aim is to raise the awareness of hazards during a fire of a burning car or another vehicle.
