To prepare participants to provide safe and effective first aid in the specific environment of the wind industry. The course teaches how to save lives and minimise the effects of injuries in locations remote from emergency services, e.g. inside a turbine or on a wind farm.
The training comprises theory and numerous practical exercises based on realistic scenarios. The programme focuses on assessing the casualty’s condition (the ABC approach), stopping bleeding, dressing wounds, and managing shock, fractures and burns. An important element is learning how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The participant is able to properly secure the scene, call for professional assistance, and assess the victim’s vital signs. They demonstrate full competence in performing adult CPR and operating an AED. Additionally, they effectively apply first aid techniques for injuries specific to turbine operations.
The certificate is valid for 24 months (2 years). To maintain your certification, you must complete a refresher course within the last 2 months before the expiry date of your current certificate.
Information about the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record allows authorised employers to instantly verify your qualifications. For participants, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
