GWO Basic Safety Training – Working at Height Refresher (WAH-R)

The main aim is to refresh and verify skills in working safely at height and rescue techniques. The course aims to reinforce correct practices, update knowledge of equipment and practise evacuation scenarios which (fortunately) rarely occur in day-to-day work.

Course description

The training focuses almost exclusively on practical work. The programme includes: a review of the principles of personal protective equipment (PPE) inspection, safe climbing techniques, and intensive rescue exercises. Participants must demonstrate the ability to efficiently evacuate a casualty from various levels of the turbine using certified descent devices.

Duration

The course lasts 7,5 hours.

Prerequisites

Possession of a valid WINDA ID numer,
At least 18 years of age,
A valid (not expired) GWO Working at Heights certificate (basic or previous refresher),
No medical contraindications to working at height or physical exertion,
Body weight not exceeding 125–135 kg (due to the weight limits of the certified equipment).

Outcomes upon completion

The participant confirms their proficiency in the use of safety and rescue equipment. They are prepared to independently undertake rescue operations at height and to safely evacuate themselves and colleagues in emergency situations.

Certificate validity

The certificate is valid for 24 months (2 years). To maintain certification, a refresher course must be completed within the last 2 months prior to the expiry date of the current certificate.

Information regarding the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify the holder’s qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
