The training combines two complementary modules:
- BTT Mechanical (BTTM): Learning about turbine construction, component identification, the use of basic hand tools and power tools, and safety rules for mechanical work.
- BTT Bolt Tightening (BTTB): Practical training in tightening techniques. This covers the use of torque wrenches (manual and electric) and advanced hydraulic systems (pumps, cassette wrenches and tensioners).
Able to perform basic mechanical work in accordance with service instructions, safely operate high-pressure hydraulic tools for tightening bolts. Correctly select torque and clamping force in accordance with technical specifications, and identify wear and damage to fasteners and tools.
The certificate does not expire (it is valid indefinitely). GWO recognises that once acquired, technical fundamentals remain valid unless standards change drastically.
Information about the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify the holder’s qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
