This is a condensed training course combining key elements of maritime and working at height safety. The programme covers the basics of sea survival, rules for safe transfer from the vessel to the turbine, the basics of working at height, and evacuation procedures. All this is presented in a simplified form, focused on participating in a visit under the supervision of professionals.
The participant is authorised to be present on an offshore wind turbine exclusively under the strict supervision (escort) of at least two certified GWO technicians. They possess the knowledge of how not to interfere with operations and how to evacuate safely in the event of an emergency. The certificate obtained does not authorise the holder to work as an installer or maintenance technician
The certificate is valid for 24 months (2 years). To maintain your certification, you must complete a refresher course within the last 2 months before the expiry date of your current certificate.
Information regarding the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify your qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
