The training covers both theory and practice regarding the construction of wind turbine mechanical systems. The programme includes instruction on bolted joints (including the use of torque, hydraulic wrenches and bolt tensioners), the principles of operation of brakes (yaw system) gearboxes and cooling systems. An important element is learning to identify mechanical hazards (crushing points, moving parts).
The participant is able to identify the main mechanical components of a turbine, use hand tools and specialist tools in accordance with instructions, check bolt tightening torques, and understands the principles of lubrication and maintenance of mechanical systems.
The certificate does not expire (it is valid indefinitely). GWO recognises that once acquired, technical fundamentals remain valid unless standards change drastically.
Information about the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify the holder’s qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
