The training combines electrical engineering theory with practical safety procedures. It covers:
- Theoretical basics: the structure of HV systems, types of switchgear and transformers,
- Hazards: electric arcs, step voltage, partial discharges,
- Safety procedures: ‘Permit to Work’ systems, LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures,
- Practical operations: safe switching sequences, earthing of equipment, use of insulating rods and voltage indicators,
- Protective equipment: selection and inspection of arc-resistant personal protective equipment (PPE).
The participant is able to correctly identify high voltage (HV) components and flawlessly interpret electrical single-line diagrams. They are fully prepared to safely perform isolation procedures and secure equipment against re-energization. In the event of an electrical system failure or electric shock, they can respond quickly and calmly, while efficiently maintaining operational documentation in accordance with strict GWO safety standards.
The certificate does not expire (it is valid indefinitely). GWO recognises that once acquired, technical fundamentals remain valid unless standards change drastically.
Information about the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record allows authorised employers to instantly verify your qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
