The training covers both theory and practice in the field of material handling:
- Lifting theory: understanding load weights, centres of gravity and working load limits (WLL/SWL),
- Equipment inspection: checking the technical condition of slings (webbing, rope, chain), shackles and other accessories,
- Signalling: learning standard hand signals and the principles of radio communication,
- Practical training: safe attachment, detachment and handling of loads in various conditions (e.g. in windy conditions).
The participant is able to correctly select rigging hardware according to the type and weight of the load. They are fully prepared to independently perform pre-operational inspections of lifting equipment and immediately withdraw damaged components from service. They can precisely direct the crane operator, ensuring the highest level of safety for personnel and property. Furthermore, they flawlessly interpret the lifting plan and are capable of accurately identifying hazard zones.
The certificate does not expire (it is valid indefinitely). GWO recognises that once acquired, technical knowledge remains valid unless standards change significantly.
Information regarding completion of the training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record enables authorised employers to instantly verify the holder’s qualifications. For the participant, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
