The training focuses on practical rescue scenarios and covers:
- Advanced life-support techniques: Use of an AED, oxygen therapy and airway management equipment.
- Incident management: Triage (sorting of casualties) and communication with telemedicine (remote doctor).
- Specific injuries: Management of crush injuries, severe haemorrhages, falls from height and hypothermia.
- Evacuation of the casualty: Stabilisation and transport of the patient inside the aircraft using specialist equipment (e.g. a Sked stretcher).
- Pharmacology: Revision of the principles of administering analgesics and other medications available in EFA first-aid kits.
The participant is able to effectively take control of an accident situation and lead the rescue operation until qualified medical services arrive. They are fully prepared to operate advanced medical equipment available on the wind farm and to provide long-term care for the casualty in challenging offshore conditions. Furthermore, they can accurately and precisely report the patient’s condition to external rescue services.
The certificate is valid for 24 months (2 years) . To maintain certification, a refresher course must be completed within the last 2 months prior to the expiry date of the current certificate.
Information about the completed training will be recorded in the international GWO WINDA database. The digital record allows authorised employers to instantly verify your qualifications. For participants, this means easy confirmation of competence worldwide without the need for paper documents.
