Registration in the WINDA database  winda.globalwindsafety.org and obtaining a WINDA ID (it is possible to register during the training).

Course objective:
The objective of the mechanical module ‘BTT M’ is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to perform basic mechanical tasks (under the supervision of an experienced technician), using safe working procedures and appropriate personal protective equipment.

Outcomes on completion of the training:

  • The mechanical module ‘BTT M’ ensures that participants will be able to :
  • Describe the main components, mechanical systems and basic operation of wind turbines (L2-Knowledge).
  • Explain the risks and hazards associated with mechanics (L2-Knowledge).
  • Understand the principles of bolted and welded connections and their inspection (L2-Knowledge).
  • Demonstrate practical skills in the use of hand tightening and measuring tools (L3-Skill).
  • Demonstrate the correct use of hydraulic tightening and tensioning tools (L3-Skill).
  • Explain the principles of transmission operation (L2-Knowledge).
  • Explain the operation of braking systems and demonstrate how to check them (L2-Knowledge / L3-Skill).
  • Explain the operation of the yaw system and demonstrate how to inspect it (L2-Knowledge).
  • Explain the operation of the cooling system and demonstrate how to inspect it (L2-Knowledge / L3-Skill).
  • Explain the operation of the lubrication system and demonstrate how to inspect it (L2-Knowledge / L3-Skill).
